§3441. Program formulation and implementation

The Secretary of Agriculture (hereafter referred to in this subchapter as the "Secretary") may formulate and implement a program for testing the feasibility of reducing excessive sedimentation in existing reservoirs. Such an assistance program shall be implemented on the watershed drainage areas of no more than five publicly owned reservoirs. The Secretary shall select for the program those reservoirs in which excessive amounts of sediment are being deposited because of critical soil erosion problems in the watershed drainage area.
