§7271b. Five-year budget plan requirement

(a) Plan requirement

The Secretary of Energy each year shall prepare a five-year budget plan for the national security programs of the Department of Energy. The plan shall contain the estimated expenditures and proposed appropriations necessary to support the programs, projects, and activities of the national security programs and shall be at a level of detail comparable to that contained in the budget submitted by the President to Congress under section 1105 of title 31.

(b) Submission of plan

The Secretary shall submit to the Committees on Armed Services and the Committees on Appropriations of the Senate and House of Representatives the plan required under subsection (a) of this section at the same time as the President submits to Congress the budget pursuant to section 1105 of title 31.

Codification

Section was enacted as part of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Years 1990 and 1991, and not as part of the Department of Energy Organization Act which comprises this chapter.
