§1596. Delegate from Virgin Islands to United States House of Representatives; clerk hire allowance and transportation expenses

Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the clerk hire allowance and the transportation expenses subject to reimbursement under Federal law of the Delegate from the Virgin Islands to the United States House of Representatives shall each be the same as allowed for Members of the United States House of Representatives.

Prior Provisions

A prior section 15 of act July 22, 1954, ch. 558, 68 Stat. 504 ; Mar. 16, 1962, Pub. L. 87–419, §2, 76 Stat. 35 , authorized Secretary of the Interior to designate the head of an executive department of the Government of the Virgin Islands as Governor in case of a vacancy, disability or absence of both the Governor and the Government Secretary, prior to repeal by Pub. L. 90–496, §7(b), Aug. 23, 1968, 82 Stat. 839 , effective Jan. 4, 1971.
