§8K. Authority to establish Inspector General of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence

If the Director of National Intelligence determines that an Office of Inspector General would be beneficial to improving the operations and effectiveness of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Director of National Intelligence is authorized to establish, with any of the duties, responsibilities, and authorities set forth in this Act, an Office of Inspector General.

Repeal of Section

Pub. L. 111–259, title IV, §405(d), Oct. 7, 2010, 124 Stat. 2719 , provided that this section is repealed on the date that the President appoints, with the advice and consent of the Senate, the first individual to serve as Inspector General for the Intelligence Community pursuant to section 403–3h of Title 50, War and National Defense, as added by section 405(a) of Pub. L. 111–259, and such individual assumes the duties of the Inspector General.

Effective Date of Repeal

Pub. L. 111–259, title IV, §405(d), Oct. 7, 2010, 124 Stat. 2719 , provided that this section is repealed on the date that the President appoints, with the advice and consent of the Senate, the first individual to serve as Inspector General for the Intelligence Community pursuant to section 403–3h of Title 50, War and National Defense, as added by section 405(a) of Pub. L. 111–259, and such individual assumes the duties of the Inspector General.

Effective Date

For Determination by President that section takes effect on Apr. 21, 2005, see Memorandum of President of the United States, Apr. 21, 2005, 70 F.R. 23925, set out as a note under section 401 of Title 50, War and National Defense.
